Why use them? If someone is mad enough to attack one of your bases with just a Titan, Leviathan or Death Star (possibly with a few fighters), destroy the fighters with more fighters and attack the bare ship with a lot of Ion Frigates filled with fighters. You will lose far less than the enemy. Edit

Good Against: Heavy Cruisers, Battleships and Defensive Structures. Edit

Bad Against: Heavy Bombers, Destroyers, Frigates, Leviathan, Titan, Death Stars. Edit

Why use them? They are very good at attacking enemy bases and mobile fleets in general. Do not use Cruisers for defense though, as they can be attacked by a bomber drop for a hefty profit. Keep them far away from Leviathans, otherwise you may experience a great loss of ships referred to as 'Levi - rape.' Edit

Good Against: Fighters, Bombers, Battleship, Dreadnought, Titan, Leviathan (if you have lots of them). Edit

Bad Against: Heavy Bombers, Destroyers, Frigates, Cruisers, Death Stars. Edit

Why use them? Good for crushing fighters and taking down Planetary Shields if you have good Plasma technology. Also good for taking down top tier ships (big ships), except for Death Stars. Edit

Why use them? They are good at destroying top tier ships (big ships) and occupying bases that only have fighters for defense. Edit

Why use them? Capable of absorbing a large portion of damage from the Frigate and smaller unit fleets with sheilds. Edit

Good Against: All non Ion units up to and including the Cruiser. Edit

Why use them? With fighter escorts use them to occupy. Also good at defending mobile fleet while at the "fortress." Group them in large groups and they will excel at destroying cruiser fleets. Edit

Why use them? They are very good at defending a mobile fleet while at the fortress. They are not very popular due to very slow speed and they can not use Jumpgates. They could be useful for attacking incoming Cruiser / Heavy cruiser fleets. Edit
